Rice pre-med students advocate for immigrant health equity

Shonik Ganjoo has spent his time as president of the Rice Doctors for Change chapter — in between the commitments that come with being a biosciences major and an anthropology minor — researching and advocating for immigrant health equity. He and the chapter’s vice president, Ritesh Dontula have been creating opportunities for Rice students to interact with Texas legislators on real-world issues.
Rice Alliance announces accelerator programs’ latest startups

The Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, a catalyst for innovation and new business, has announced the 17 ventures participating in its summer accelerators for Rice University students, faculty, recent alumni, and staff, the largest number of ventures in the 11-year history of these programs.
Matthews, Wise to receive ARA's Gold Medal at 2023 Laureates Awards

At the Association of Rice Alumni’s 2023 Laureates Awards ceremony May 4, the group will bestow its highest honor — the Gold Medal Award — to Kathleen Shive Matthews and Scott W. Wise. The annual ceremony also honored several prominent alumni with the Distinguished Alumni Award and several members of the Rice community with the Meritorious Service Award.

Rice University scientists identified three biomaterial formulations that could help develop a more sustainable, long-term, self-regulating way to treat Type 1 diabetes using a new screening technique that involves tagging each biomaterial formulation in a library of hundreds with a unique “barcode.”
