In a heartwarming display of emotion, potential future students of Rice University captured video of themselves opening their acceptance letters for the Fall 2024 admissions cycle.
Despite the competitive nature of the admissions process, the video highlights the pure joy and excitement that comes with being accepted to Rice, according to Yvonne Romero Da Silva, vice president for enrollment.
"The overwhelming response to our admissions process is a testament to the outstanding academic and extracurricular opportunities that Rice has to offer," Romero Da Silva said. “The video serves as a heartwarming reminder of the impact that a university acceptance can have on an individual’s life. It captures the essence of the university experience and the transformative journey that awaits the incoming class of students.”
Rice received 32,459 applications for the fall semester, representing a 4.5% increase from the previous year. The university offered admission to 2,439 students for an admit rate of 7.5%. The students who were admitted during the regular decision period have until May 1 to make a decision about whether to attend.
Last December, Rice admitted 442 early decision applicants to the class of 2028 from a record 2,886 early decision applications. Click here to watch early decision applicants reading their acceptance letters.
