“I’m just so excited for these young ladies, the way they competed, the way they laid it all out on the line and the way they played with heart and toughness,” head coach Lindsay Edmonds said shortly after exiting the team bus. “They deserve all these special moments, and this is something they will remember for the rest of their lives. That’s pretty special.”

“This feels really good,” said Malia Fisher, who was named MVP of the AAC tournament. “I think it just makes it even sweeter knowing that we have so much support behind us and so much love from our community.”

Rice earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after being crowned champions of the AAC in their debut season in the conference, defeating East Carolina 61-41 in the league tournament’s championship game.

The Owls will learn their opponent Sunday night during the Selection Show for the 2024 NCAA tournament.

Rice will host a watch party in the Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center with the event open to the public by reservation. Doors for the event will open at 6:30 p.m. with the Selection Show starting at 7 p.m. Parking will be free in West Lot 3.
