Nearly 8 in 10 Houston residents believe owning a home is a good way to build wealth, but Houston’s homeownership has been on the decline since the early 2000s. These and other findings will be discussed in a free webinar highlighting the 2024 State of Housing report from Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research, which will be released June 20.
The webinar will take place from 10-11 a.m. This year’s report focuses on homeownership in Houston.
Panelists for the event include Allison Hay, CEO of Houston Habitat for Humanity; Michael Nichols, director of housing and community development for the city of Houston; and Christa Stoneham, CEO and president of Houston Land Bank.
Previous State of Housing reports have tracked various housing indicators and captured the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the local housing market.
The report will be available for download at 6 a.m. CDT June 20 at https://kinder.rice.edu/research/2024-state-housing-harris-county-and-houston.
