The Rice University Board of Trustees recognized Anne Santos for her six years of service and accomplishments in the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies.
As the director of finance and administration, she is responsible for all budget, compliance, operational and process improvement, human resources and workplace environment.
“Anne’s leadership, integrity and commitment to our mission are evident in her words and actions. Her work ethic is admired and copied by colleagues,” said Robert Bruce, dean of the Glasscock School. “She represents the Dean’s Office and the Glasscock School with diplomacy and accomplished proficiency.”
In addition to her role at the Glasscock School, Santos has volunteered for several Rice activities and committees. She joined the Staff Council in 2018 and served as secretary in 2018 and 2019, vice chair in 2020 and chair in 2021. She also participates in a taskforce working to improve the IO experience and is a Wiess College associate.
“Administrators from across campus know that they can contact Anne for collaborative assistance with IO challenges or to get her advice on administrative approaches. Quite simply, she knows how to get things done and does so with integrity, efficiency and good humor,” Bruce said.
Previously, Santos was the 2022 recipient of the annual schoolwide Glasscock Mary McIntire Award for Staff Excellence.
“Anne has been at Rice for six years and in that relatively short time frame she has truly made Rice a better place. We can only imagine what she’ll accomplish in the next six years,” Bruce said.
In addition to Santos, the Board of Trustees also recognized Tina Villard, who was this year’s Elizabeth Gillis Award recipient. Villard, senior associate athletic director at the Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center, was formally honored with this designation at the Staff Appreciation event on April 21.
