Rice staff member Ann Mikus has been honored with the RICE MILE Award.
Mikus, department administrator for Political Science, has served with “extraordinary competence” for more than 20 years, according to a letter nominating her for the award. She was also praised for her ability to keep the department running "efficiently and nearly mistake-free.”
“We all trust her to manage affairs in the interest of the department and to maintain our personnel matters in the strictest of confidence — her integrity is beyond reproach,” the letter read. “She often takes the lead in organizing social events and in maintaining a collegial environment and she sees herself as part of the department; she is the glue that holds our community together.”
“Ann is the consummate professional who is committed to excellence, is utterly reliable, has the highest level of integrity, and without whose leadership and guidance the Department of Political Science would be a much less effective and efficient body," the letter continued.
