Vice President for Global and Digital Strategy Caroline Levander has been elected vice chair of the Fulbright Association, effective Jan. 1, 2022. Her term lasts two years. She has also been elected to a second three-year term on the association's board of directors, which she joined in 2019.
Dr. Hashim Zaidi '11 has been named associate medical director of Rice Emergency Medical Services (REMS). The former REMS captain was profiled in Rice Magazine last year.
A team of Rice chemical and biomolecular engineers won the American Institute of Chemical Engineers South Texas Section award for the best fundamental paper of 2020. Arjun Valiya Parambathu, Philip Singer, George Hirasaki, Walter Chapman and Dilipkumar Asthagiri were honored for their paper, “Critical Role of Confinement in the NMR Surface Relaxation and Diffusion of n‑Heptane in a Polymer Matrix Revealed by MD Simulations,” which appeared in The Journal of Physical Chemistry B 2020 and was covered in Rice News. The award was presented at the organization’s monthly meeting Sept. 30.
