Brandy Hays Morrison has been named to Rice University’s Board of Trustees.
Morrison is the vice president of strategic growth for Pluribus Digital, a technology firm based in the Washington, D.C., area, where she leads business development efforts in federal government contracting. Her professional background includes engineering and management consulting positions at Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Accenture before she transitioned to the world of small business. Her clients have spanned several countries (including the U.S., Sweden and Bulgaria) and several federal agencies (including the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services). She is also co-founder of the Digital Services Coalition.
Morrison holds two degrees from Rice. She earned her undergraduate degree in 2000 after double majoring in computer engineering and managerial studies. She earned her MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business in 2005. Morrison was also one of the first students to enroll in Rice through the Posse Foundation, a scholarship nonprofit based in New York City whose mission is to bring more diversity and leadership to college campuses.
While at Rice, Morrison was president of the National Society of Black Engineers, student manager for women’s basketball and founder of the Black Business Student Association. She has since served on the board of directors for of a number of university entities, including the Association of Rice University Black Alumni, the Rice Engineering Alumni, the Association of Rice Alumni and the Posse Foundation.
Her term as a trustee began on July 1 and will continue for four years.
