Corals may need their predators' poop
Fish that dine on corals may pay it forward with poop. It’s an unexpected twist on coral reef symbiosis, said Rice University marine biologist Adrienne Correa, whose lab discovered coral predator feces are jam-packed with living symbiotic algae that corals depend on for survival. The discovery confirms that poop from coral-eating fish is an important environmental source of symbiotic dinoflagellate algae on coral reefs.

Baker Institute survey highlights impact of illicit medical cannabis use in Texas, need to change law
With the passage of the Compassionate Use Act in 2015, the state of Texas officially recognized cannabis as medicine. Still, most Texas patients are excluded from participating in the Compassionate Use Program due to restrictions in state law. Rice's Baker Institute for Public Policy conducted a recent survey of 2,866 Texas residents who use medical cannabis illicitly to gain insight into the needs and experiences of this population.
